Persistent pain can steal life's pleasures.

Blessing Hospital's Pain Management Service helps individuals manage pain to lead more productive lives.

Services are offered by health care providers who specialize in the treatment of pain.

  • Five physicians provide services through our outpatient pain management service.
  • Four RNs and a LPN make up the nursing staff that provide services of support and education to patients.
  • A licensed clinical social worker provides evaluation and support service to patients.
  • Two secretaries provide day to day services for staff and patients.

A referral for your persistent pain must come from your primary care provider. During the initial visit a plan of care is established with personal goals developed. Follow-up visits will focus on response to treatment, pain status, medication management, and function.

A referral for a procedure must also come from your primary care provider. An initial history will be gathered over the phone prior to the procedure.

Patients are referred to physical therapy, psychiatric services, occupational therapy, etc. as needed. Referrals to multidisciplinary pain clinics outside the area are recommended when our resources are exhausted. Chronic patients are seen at least every two months with regular communication about prescription refills and to receive updates on current pain status.
