Rehabilitation Services

Blessing Rehabilitation Services has been the region's source for comprehensive physical rehabilitative care for a quarter century. The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) is the nation's premier rehabilitation services provider. In 2005, these two organizations formed a partnership that strengthened physical rehabilitation services in the Blessing Hospital region.

No matter a person's age, illness or injury; no matter how care is delivered - inpatient, outpatient or home care; no matter the services needed - physical, occupational and speech therapy and rehabilitation nursing; Blessing and RIC deliver quality, compassion and specialized care resulting in extraordinary outcomes.

Highly trained therapists and nurses deliver our physical rehabilitative care. The staff includes:

  • 21 certified brain injury specialists (CBIS)
  • Four certified rehabilitation registered nurses (CRRN)
  • The area's only lymphedema therapist (CLT) certified by the Lymphyology Association of North America - lymphedema is swelling most often occuring after surgery to remove lymph nodes. It is most common in the extremities, but can be anywhere. Removal of lymph nodes is common during the resection of breast cancer and other tumors to determine if the cancer has spread. Lymphedema can also be present at birth, called primary lymphedema which is very rare.
  • The area's only therapist certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT) by the McKenzie Institute International - MDT, also known as the McKenzie technique, is most common for treating low back pain, but can be used for many other things. It incorporates specific evaluation and treatment methods as well as exercise protocols.

Blessing Rehabilitation Services offers other care specialties and clinics, including Hand Therapy, wheelchair seating and positioning, dysphagia (difficulty with swallowing) management, cognitive (reasoning and perception) rehabilitation and women's health rehabilitation.

The national Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) accredit the Blessing Rehabilitation Center.
