Emergency CenterFrom sick children and chest pain in the middle of the night to multi-victim traumas, Blessing's emergency services staff is ready to respond around the clock. Our Level II trauma center is staffed by board certified physicians and nurses specially trained in advanced life support and trauma care. The staff has the skill, expertise and technology to treat cardiac and stroke patients using the latest in thrombolytic therapy and intervention. Radiology rooms within the department and staff cross-trained to perform cardiac tests helps streamline care for patients. Blessing's Emergency Center is accredited by the Society for Chest Pain Centers and has been recognized by the Illinois Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) as an emergency department approved for pediatric care. Blessing holds designation as a sexual assault treatment center with emergency staff specially trained to care for victims of sexual assault. When appropriate, social workers on staff refer patients to community agencies for follow-up services. Blessing Hospital has taken a lead role in the emergency care of the surrounding counties by serving as the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) resource hospital for the EMS systems in Adams, Brown, Hancock and Pike counties. In that role, Blessing oversees the training, education, policies and protocols for paramedics, EMTs and first responders.
